Vavona Burl veneer is sliced from huge, prolific burl growths found on occasional redwoods, producing some of the largest and most uniform burled veneer in the world. The grey coloring of the wood can be caused by natural weathering. Our innovative technique mimics the lengthy ageing process of wood to yield pearly grey. The playing field is a combination of black Oak with light grey & grey points.
This backgammon is handmade using the art of marquetry (also spelled as marqueterie) which is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns and designs.
